Tally Burke honored at TWC Athletic Banquet for academic, athletic achievements

Tennessee Wesleyan College recently held its Annual Athletic Banquet to honor the college's exceptional Bulldog athletes. TWC junior and senior student athletes, coaches, and local community members celebrated this past year's Bulldog athletic achievements. The banquet began with a year in pictures and recognition of post-season honors from last spring up until this spring. The posts-eason honors included TWC athletes who had been named to All-Conference teams, All-Academic teams, or were awarded any other conference awards. TWC Associate Professor of Biology Dr. Grant Willhite presented the Academic Achievement Awards to: Brad Carpenter for Baseball Arden Beeler for Men's Basketball Courtney Gobble for Women's Basketball Lindsay Arndts for Softball Serra Kerley for Women's Lacrosse Tyler Caviness for Men's Lacrosse Kaylan Powers for Volleyball Rachel Hull for Women's Track McKeehan Rue for Men's Golf Stephanie Carr for Women's Golf Bret Wade for Men's Tennis Jayden Morrison for Women's Tennis Ashlie Reagan for Women's Soccer Talley Burke for Dance Kimberly Layman for Cheerleading The James W. Thompson Academic Achievement Award is given to a male and female senior athlete with the highest GPA. Tyler Caviness and Lindsay Arndts were the recipients of this award. The Champions of Characters Awards were given to a member of each team that exemplified the five core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership. Those awarded were: Ryan Phillips for Baseball Jon Tucker for Men's Basketball Courtney Gobble for Women's Basketball Brandi Lasley for Softball Sarah Stoffle for Volleyball Anna Headen for Women's Lacrosse Parker Thomas for Men's Lacrosse Robbiccaa Williams for Women's Cross Country Roderick Bowman for Men's Cross Country Stephanie Carr for Women's Golf Josh Wheeler for Men's Golf Bret Wade for Men's Tennis Beatriz Signori for Women's Tennis Rachel Hull for Women's Soccer Garrett Koon for Men's Soccer Cameron Knox for Men's Track Beth Sexton for Women's Track Elizabeth Box for Cheerleading Samantha Carroll for Dance The Overall Champions of Character awards were given to Josh Williams and Bailey Lyness. Following the Academic Achievement and Champions of Character Awards, TWC senior male and female athletes were presented with awards. The Floyd "Jack" Bowling Award was given to Jon Tucker and Kimberly Key. The Stan Harrison Award was given to Will Munley and Courtney Gobble. The M.C. "Tip" Smith Award was awarded to Bret Wade and Ashlie Reaga. Brooke Ward and Daelyn Swafford were awarded the Athletic Director's Award. The final award to the athletes was the Dwain Farmer Award which was given to David Escobosa and Cody Houck. The Jack Prince Award was the final award of the night. Awarded to a community member who devotes extra time and service to the Athletic Department, this year's honoree was State Farm Insurance Agent Sharon Brown, who was recognized as going above and beyond for the TWC Athletic Department and the college overall.
